CFO Moves in the UK this week include:

Fiberweb appointed former Royal Mail group finance director Ian Duncan as a non-executive director. Duncan will chair the audit committee, and will also serve on Fiberweb’s remuneration and nomination committee. Duncan was the group finance director of Royal Mail Holdings from 2006 and 2010. Prior to that, he was the corporate finance director of British Nuclear Fuels.He has also worked as CFO and senior vice president of Westinghouse Electric Company. Duncan currently chairs the audit committees of WANdisco and Mouchel.

TalkTalk Telecom Group PLC announced that Amy Stirling has decided to step down from the Board and her role as Chief Financial Officer after 13 years with the business, first with Carphone Warehouse and latterly with TalkTalk. Amy will stand down from the Board on 31 May 2013 and leave the company at the end of this September 2013. Stephen Makin will be appointed to the Board as Amy’s replacement and become CFO on 31 May 2013. He will join the business on 15 April 2013, to ensure an orderly handover. Most recently, Stephen was CFO at Shop Direct. Prior to that, he was CEO and CFO of London listed Umbro PLC, until its acquisition by Nike in 2008. Stephen spent the early part of his career at Asda, where he held a series of senior finance positions.

African Barrick Gold plc announced that Kevin Jennings, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of ABG has given notice that he intends to leave the Company in order to take up a similar role at another mining company. Jaco Maritz, currently Vice President, Finance, will assume Kevin’s day to day responsibilities.

Stagecoach Group plc announced the appointment of Gregor Alexander as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 1 April 2013. Gregor Alexander is the Finance Director of SSE plc (formerly Scottish and Southern Energy plc). He is Chairman of Scotia Gas Networks, a company 50% owned by SSE plc. Gregor has worked in the energy industry since 1990, when he joined Scottish Hydro Electric. He was appointed Finance Director and joined the board of SSE in 2002, having previously been Group Treasurer and Tax Manager. Gregor will chair the Company’s Audit Committee from 1 July 2013. As previously announced, the current chair of the Audit Committee, Garry Watts, will become the Company’s Deputy Chairman with effect from 1 May 2013.

Alternative Networks plc announced that Gavin Griggs has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer, with effect from 8 April 2013. He will take over from Charles Baker, who was appointed Interim CFO on 1 January 2013. Gavin was most recently Group Financial Controller at Logica plc. Prior to that, he held a variety of divisional Finance Director roles at Sodexo and PepsiCo and was Head of Group Finance, Planning and Analysis at SABMiller plc. His early career was with British Sugar, where he qualified as a Management Accountant.

Grafton Group plc announced that Colm ó Nualláin, Finance Director, will retire from Grafton in January 2014. Colm joined Grafton in 1989 and was appointed to the Board as Finance Director in 1990.

Aquascutum has hired former Juicy Couture finance director Mark Taylor to lead its UK business. Taylor replaces former chief executive Tim Dally, who stepped down because of ill health earlier this year.Taylor, who was also previously head of finance at Jigsaw, took up the role of chief operating officer of the UK arm, Aquascutum 1851, last week.

Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc announced that as part of the managed handover of his responsibilities Richard Pennycook will stand down from the Board on 10 April 2013 following completion of the Company’s annual shareholder roadshow. Trevor Strain, Group Finance Director Designate, will be appointed to the Board from 10 April 2013. Richard Pennycook will remain with the Company until June 2013.
