Canada | CFO Moves – week ending January 31, 2014

Tracking CFO Movement Across Canada.


Sobeys Inc. announced that Paul Jewer, Chief Financial Officer for the company, will leave the organization effective February 14, 2014, to accept a role outside the organization. François Vimard, Executive Vice President, Sobeys Inc. and Chief Financial Officer for Empire Company Limited will assume Mr. Jewer’s responsibilities on an interim basis. Mr. Jewer joined Sobeys Inc. in 2003 as Vice President Finance & Treasury. He was appointed Chief Financial Officer in October 2011.

High Liner Foods Incorporated (TSX: HLF) announced today that Paul Jewer will replace Kelly Nelson as CFO of High Liner Foods. Mr. Nelson will retire from the Company following its annual general meeting this May and will work with Mr. Jewer until that time to ensure a smooth transition. Mr. Jewer was most recently CFO with Sobeys Inc. Prior to joining Sobeys Inc. in 2003, he held a number of progressively senior finance positions in the technology sector.

Hudson’s Bay Company (TSX: HBC) appointed Douglas Scovanner as Executive Vice President of Finance and Accounting, on an interim basis. Prior to this appointment, Scovanner spent nearly two decades at Target Corporation, most recently as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Intertape Polymer Group Inc. (TSX: ITP) announced the departure of Bernard J. Pitz as Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately. Michael Jay, with Intertape since 2011 as Corporate Controller, will assume the duties of interim Chief Financial Officer.

Inscape (TSX: INQ) announced the appointment of Matthew Posno as Chief Financial Officer effective March 27, 2014. His most recent position was Vice President, Finance with an automotive parts manufacturer.

Nevsun Resources Ltd. (TSX: NSU) announced it has hired Tom Whelan as its Chief Financial Officer. Tom Whelan comes from Ernst & Young LLP where he was the EY Global Mining & Metals Assurance sector leader, the leader of the EY assurance practice in Vancouver and previously the EY Canadian Mining & Metals Sector Leader.

Sernova Corp (TSX-V: SVA) announced that Cathy R. Steiner has joined the Company as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Sernova, Ms. Steiner was Managing Director of Nucleus GC. Previously she held the positions of Executive Director, Healthcare Investment Banking for CIBC World Markets, and Vice President, Healthcare Investment Banking for Yorkton Securities. Ms. Steiner replaces Bill Smethurst, the outgoing CFO.

Canadian Silver Hunter Inc. (TSX-V: AGH) announced the appointment of Jing Peng as the Company’s new Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Peng is an employee with Marrelli Support Services Inc. Before joining Marrelli Support Services Inc., he worked at a public accounting firm providing financial services primarily to junior exploration companies. Mr. Peng replaces Carmelo Marrelli, principal of Marrelli Support Services Inc., for his years of service as the Company’s Chief Financial Officer.

ONEnergy Inc. reported that C. Fraser Elliott has resigned as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Elliott’s duties will be assumed by Ray de Ocampo, ONEnergy’s current Vice President, Finance. Mr. de Ocampo, was Vice President, Finance of Sunwave Gas & Power Inc., which was acquired by ONEnergy. Mr. Elliott will continue to assist ONEnergy in a consulting role through July 31, 2014.

Virtutone Networks Inc. (TSX-V: VFX) announced that it has appointed Brent Johnston as Chief Financial Officer of the Company. Mr. Johnston has over 15 years of experience in senior financial positions in public and private companies, including acting as Chief Financial Officer of Medwell Capital Corp., a public biotechnology company. Mr. Johnston will replace Colin Campbell, who has served as Chief Financial Officer since March 2010. Mr. Campbell will remain with the Company to assist in the transition.

Hybrid Paytech World (CNSX: HPT) announced the appointment of Joey Trombino as Chief Financial Officer. Joey Trombino has held senior management positions with several public and private companies in the technology and resource sectors.
