CFO Moves in the UK this week include:

Smith & Nephew plc confirmed the appointment of Julie Brown as Chief Financial Officer. On 19 November 2012, Smith & Nephew said it appointed Julie Brown as its chief financial officer, who would formally take up the post by early February 2013. Julie joins from AstraZeneca Plc, where she served as Vice President Group Finance and recently as Interim Chief Financial Officer. Julie, in her 25 years with AstraZeneca, has held a number of senior financial and management positions including Regional Vice President Latin America, Marketing Company President AZ Portugal and Vice President Corporate Strategy and Research and Development Chief Financial Officer.

Barclays announced that the Group Finance Director Chris Lucas, has decided to retire from the company. Chris has agreed to remain in his role until their successors have been appointed and an appropriate handover completed.

CLS Group announced that Alexander Filshie has been appointed Chief Financial Officer. He joins the executive management committee. Prior to American Express, Mr. Filshie worked as CFO and head of strategy for Africa and the Middle East at Barclays. He also worked for Standard Chartered in a number of finance functions and began his career at Deloitte Haskins & Sells.

Tenet has named Caroline Bradley as its new finance director. Bradley replaces Graeham Sampson who resigned last September. Bradley joined Tenet in October. Previously, she was the finance director and chief risk officer at TD Wealth. Prior to TD Wealth, Bradley had worked as finance director and secretary for YorkSHARE, under the Yorkshire Building Society umbrella.

Burford Capital announced the appointment of Miriam Connole as its Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Connole most recently served as Group Commercial Finance Director of Friends Life Group, a leading UK insurer. Previously, she was the Chief Financial Officer of RSA’s Central & Eastern European region.

Burberry Group plc announced that Stacey Cartwright, EVP and Chief Financial Officer, is to step down in order to pursue new interests. To ensure a seamless transition, Stacey will remain as EVP and Chief Financial Officer, and retain her position on the Board, until the conclusion of Burberry’s Annual General Meeting in July 2013. Carol Fairweather is appointed Chief Financial Officer Designate with immediate effect and will become Chief Financial Officer on Stacey’s departure. Carol has been with the company for six years, most recently as Senior Vice President, Group Finance. Prior to joining Burberry, Carol held senior finance positions at News International Limited and Shandwick plc.
