Maple Leaf Foods (TSX: MFI) announced that Debbie Simpson will succeed Michael Vels as Chief Financial Officer. For the past seven years, Debbie has held senior Finance roles at Maple Leaf. Mike will remain with the Company until the end of the year to lead the separation of the bakery business, the Maple Leaf organizational transition and support the transfer of his responsibilities to Debbie.
Penn West Petroleum Ltd. (TSX: PWT) announced that David Dyck has been appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) of Penn West effective May 1, 2014. Mr. Dyck replaces Todd Takeyasu who is stepping down from the role. Mr. Dyck was most recently the CFO of a Calgary energy company focused on developing natural gas conversion projects combined with in-situ coal gasification technology. Prior to that, David served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Ivanhoe Energy Inc. Mr. Dyck also founded and was the CEO of a capital advisory firm, and spent approximately seven years with Western Oil Sands Inc. as Senior Vice President, Finance and CFO. Jeff Curran, Vice President, Accounting & Reporting will fulfill the responsibilities of CFO in the interim period ensuring an orderly transition.
Timbercreek Senior Mortgage Investment Corporation (TSX: MTG) announced that it has appointed David Melo as Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”). Mr. Melo joined Timbercreek in November 2004 and is Managing Director, Finance and Chief Compliance Officer for the Timbercreek group of companies.
Canwealth Minerals Corporation and majority shareholder, ICBS Ltd., (OTC: ICBT) announced the appointment of Mr. Neji Jedda to the Board of Directors. Mr. Jedda is currently the Principal Director at the Federal Development Bank of Canada. He was formerly with the Toronto Dominion Bank of Canada, and is a graduate of the University of Montreal. Mr. Jedda will assume the position of Chief Financial Officer.
Gossan Resources Limited (TSX-V: GSS) has appointed Robert Suttie as the Company’s new Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Suttie currently works with Marrelli Support Services as its Vice President. He possesses almost 20 years of financial reporting experience, ten of which were in public accounting prior to his tenure with Marrelli Support Services. Mr. Suttie also serves as Chief Financial Officer for other junior mining companies. Mr. Suttie replaces Carmelo Marrelli as the Company’s Chief Financial Officer.
Grenville Strategic Royalty Corp. (TSX-V: GRC) announced that Mr. Donnacha Rahill has been appointed as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer, with Mr. Oleg Dubrovsky moving to the position of Controller. Prior to joining Grenville, Mr. Rahill spent over 20 years in various CFO and finance capacities, including as CFO of De Lage Landen’s Canadian subsidiary.
Solid Resources Ltd. (TSX-V: SRW) announced the appointment of Michael Nayyar to the position of Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Nayyar will succeed outgoing CFO Rick Gliege, who will continue to act as Chief Operating Officer, Director and Corporate Secretary. Mr. Nayyar has over 15 years of financial strategy and operational experience in a number of industries, including mining and exploration. He began his career with an international accounting firm.
